Our encounter with Quentin Tarantino

Last night went for Quentin Tarantino. Figured it was a relatively late flight so it would be low key and I could get a few items we needed to get done done. Boy, was I wrong. It was the red eye from NY and it was delayed til 1:30. 14 to 15 people had ventured out for Quentin at the buttcrack of dawn. I was starting to have a bad feeling.

Tarantino finally made his way out and was quickly swarmed. He began signing but I wasn't in a good position to get close. He did a few then said he was done. Damn! He made his way down to a roped off area. I was done! I asked him to sign my Django poster and he said sorry gotta go...he looked back and seemed to feel bad and then came back to me! WHEW!! He signed my Django and I motioned for him to sign the Inglorious Basterds poster Edwin had. He did.

I then proceeded to walk downstairs to head out. As I was walking downstairs I look up only to see Quentin walking right by me! I tell him thanks for signing and he waves and says "No Problem". Then I see everyone approaching him again. He says he's gonna do one more per person. So I pull my other shot and he signs it in silver. Edwin pulls an item he's hoping to get personalized to his son, Anthony. He does. Quentin then takes pictures with us.

Our encounter with Matt Damon

Went for Matt Damon the other day with one goal in mind...get my Rounders poster signed in silver with a quote. See, Matt is one of the nicest celebrities there is. He's almost a lock to take the time to come over but with that knowledge, hoards of people go out for him. It's a flurry of photos and it's usually a situation where whatever color he gets in his hand to begin with...that's what he'll end with.

I figured this was my best case scenario to get what I wanted being as he had been out for a week and everyone had been going for him quite often. My gut instinct was right. This time it was a little mellower. I was not only able to get my poster done with the quote "I feel like Buckner walking back into Shea" in silver but also a picture from Rounders for my friend for his birthday as well as everything else we brought. Pretty productive little morning.

Our encounter with Ben Affleck

About week ago we heard about an event that Ben Affleck would be attending but were pretty apprehensive due to the fact that Ben hasn’t been signing lately. When I say he hasn’t been signing, that’s a bit of an understatement. It’s a bit more like he hasn’t been acknowledging anyone, at all. Not “I can’t today” or “I’ll get you next time”. Nothing. Silence.  Well Ant E & I decided that we would give it another shot, mainly because I loved Argo, Ant loved The Town & the weather was pretty crappy in LA, which means most autographers will not leave their houses.

We get to the venue about 30 minutes before we think Ben will be there and there’s only two other collectors there. So far, so good.  A few minutes go by & Ant spots a car pulling into the parking garage. He takes off to check it out, which means the rest of us do as well, LOL. Sure enough, it’s Ben. He parks himself & starts to walk to the venue. We ask him to sign & what do you know, he does!!! He’s actually pretty personable, commenting on how much he likes Ant’s photo. I decide to wait till everyone gets there items, as I need silver on my poster. I ask him to sign my poster & let him know that Argo was one of my favorite movies of the year. Ben’s response, “Oh thanks man”. He then gives my poster the nicest Ben Affleck autograph I’ve ever seen!!! After this Ben starts to walk away but before he does, we all ask him for a photo. Without turning around, to face us, he raises his arm & says “No authentication photo’s tonight”.

Meeting the contestants from NBC's The Voice - Melanie Martinez, Cassadee Pope & more!!

Let me begin by saying, yes, I watch the Voice religiously. I am a fan of the show and have seen every season so far. I don't know if it's Adam Levine's incredible sense of style or Blake Shelton's charm but for some reason this is the one singing challenge show that I actually enjoy. So the other day when I was presented with the chance to go meet the final eight contestants I jumped at it.

This season hasn't been as good talent wise as the previous two seasons but there have been a few standouts that I enjoy such as Melanie Martinez and Cassadee Pope.

Shortly after arriving Nicholas David & Terry McDermott arrived. I really dig Nicholas. The guy has such an unconventional look and you just wouldn't expect him to sound the way he does. Not only does he look fresh, but he might have the coolest autograph I've ever seen. "I don't sign my name, I draw my face". Terry was very nice as well.

Up next was Cody Belew and Melanie Martinez. Now, I'm not a big fan of Cody. I don't think he should have still been in the competition. He's got personality and is charming but he just can't sing well enough. He actually ended up going home on the next day's episode but he was very nice and signed but Melanie Martinez was the one I was really looking forward to meeting and she did NOT disappoint. One of the friendliest and sweetest people I've met in a long time. Truely gracious that we asked her for autographs and pictures. She took the time to write a little message on each of our images and hung out for a fair amount of time. It was a pleasure meeting her and I really hope she goes far in this competition and beyond.

Up next was Dez Deron and Cassadee Pope.  Dez, like Cody, seems likeable enough but just can't sing good enough! The guy was nice tho and also signed. I, however, was more interested in Cassadee. She's my favorite and my pick to win it all. She was very sweet and took the time to sign and take pictures. She's easy on the eyes, too.

Lastly, Amanda Brown and Trevin Hunte arrived. Both were nice. I like Amanda Brown and think she could make it deep in the competition. Both signed and completed our cast item of the final eight and I got a photo with Amanda.

All in all, a good, quick and easy night. It was nice meeting the cast and made me want to root for Melanie & Cassadee even more. Vote for em, download their songs, tweet about em'...do whatever to help these two girls get to the final 2.
