Iron Man 3 Premiere: RDJ, Rebecca Hall, Haley Atwell & More!

Most of the times, getting autographs isn’t so easy.  Believe it or not, most of our time is spent waiting for the few seconds of the payoff.  This week was no different because the Iron Man 3 premiere was upon us.  We knew space would be limited so this one was going to require us to put in some time.  And limited it was…

As the hours passed more and more collectors showed.  We knew it was going to be tough because the set up at premieres can be unpredictable.  Still, we stayed in our spot and just rested.  I even built himself a tent shanty to shield myself from the other collectors as long as possible.  With still hours to go, we waited and waited.

By the time the premiere started, there were rows and rows of people behind us, all hoping to catch a glimpse of Tony Stark.  The arrivals started out pretty slow, as we saw Bella Thorne, Emily VanCamp, Jamie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Cobie Smulders, Zachary Levi, Peter Facinelli, Jon Favreau, Olivia Holt, Stan Lee, Hayle Atwell, Neal McDonough and Mario Lopez all arrive.  A few of them made there way over to sign but not in our area.  The set up made it a little difficult for them to do it, but still… this did not look promising. 

It took awhile but we did taste a little success.  Ant held up his Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey shot and it caught William Sadler's eye and he came over to sign it.  Also, Cobie Smulders, Jaime Alexander & Zachary Levi all ended up walking the carpet and making their way back over to sign.

Finally, a cast arrival… Guy Pierce!  And he’s walking over to sign!  Unfortunately he walked to the opposite side of where we were standing and started signing.  He was followed by Don Cheadle… who did the exact same thing!  Both headed in the opposite direction of us.  Things were starting to look lost.

The lovely Rebecca Hall arrived next, and her publicist’s looked perplexed on how to get her over to us.  They stood on the carpet for a moment talking about it and then her publicist shouted “she cant right now” at us and dragged Rebecca to the carpet.  Rebecca shrugged and mouthed “sorry” at us.  She’s great though, so we knew she’d sign later.

Gwyneth Paltrow arrived next and it was anybody’s guess what would happen.  For the past two years, Gwyneth has been signing but prior to that she was cold as ice about it.  She arrived and didn’t even think about coming over.  Not looking good.  Ben Kingsley did the same thing… no acknowledgement. 

Finally, Robert Downey Jr made a grand entrance with his wife, driving down the red carpet in one of Tony Stark’s cars.  He made his way to the side of the car and helped his wife out and then proceeded to stand behind the car, closest to the fans and let the press photograph him.  He then turned to the crowd and waved and proceeded to walk all the way back to the start of the line and walk down it, signing as many as possible.

It’s tough when you’re in a crowd like this because you never know the quality of signatures you might get… today wasn’t any different.  Three of us had one sheet posters, all were signed differently, in different sizes.  But sometimes you gotta take what you can get. We managed to get two posters signed and an 8x10 as well as an 11x14 (not pictured).

We left to go watch arrivals from the other side and missed Tom Hiddleston arrive and walk down the barricade to sign.  It was a bummer missing out on Loki but it happens.  You can't be everywhere at once.

The premiere ended and we all jockeyed for the best position but again, it was questionable where the best spot was.  During this, we saw Rebecca Hall leaving and asked if she would come over… and she graciously did.  She apologized for not signing earlier and walked down the line signing multiple items and being happy about it.

 After Rebecca we watched Don Cheadle sign for other people.  We watch Guy Pearce sign for other people.  It just wasn’t looking good for us.   Finally, James Badge Dale came over and signed.  The beautiful Hayley Atwell from Captain America also came over to us and signed as many as possible.

 That was about it, we tried for Robert Downey Jr and Ben Kingsley…. No luck.  Eventually, Guy Peirce did make his way over and sign.  Still, we walked away with Robert Downey Jr and any premiere where you walk away with the star of the show is good by us.  Until next time...

42 Premiere: Harrison Ford SIGNS!!

Every opportunity that arises to go for Harrison Ford, we usually find ourselves saying “he probably wont sign there.”  Don’t get us wrong, Harrison does sign but he’s about what you’d expect – a bit of a grump.  That being said, his premiere’s are usually the last place he signs so we didn’t really expect much heading to the “42” premiere on Tuesday.  Still for a legend like Harrison Ford, we’ve got to try.

 

Arrivals for the premiere started pretty slowly, with a few celebrities who weren’t in the movie showing up; Kim Raver, Alyssa Milano and Naya Rivera among them.  Nobody was prepared to see any of these ladies so no autographs were signed from them at this moment.  After about twenty minutes into the arrivals, we finally seeing cast members from the film show up  

We were happy to see Alan Tudyk of “Firefly” fame show up and pick up a pen, mainly because we’re huge “Wreck it Ralph” fans.  Alan played King Candy in that film… Great voice artist and actor!

Christopher Meloni from Law and Order SVU is also a cast member in 42 and ran right over to sign a few items.

Other cast members including Lucas Black,  TR Knight, Andrew Holland,  John C. McGinley arrived but weren’t interested in signing at that time.  Ryan Merriman did come over and sign a handful of items.

Finally the moment arrived that Mr. Indiana Jones himself showed up.  Arm and arm with Calistia Flockhart, Harrison immediately took to the red carpet for press photography.  After a moment, he turned to acknowledge the crowd screaming for him, pointed to his watch, and said he was late.  About twenty seconds later, he changed his mind and actually came over and began signing!

In all the years we’ve seen Harrison Ford, at charity events, premieres and screenings, we’ve never him walk over to a crowd this size and begin signing.  The sea of never ending photos began as Harrison did his best to sign one each for as many people as he could get to.   If you tried for multiples and Harrison caught you, even at 70 years old he’d remember your face.   Still, we were able to have a very successful night with Harrison, getting multiple items signed!

Finally, Chadwick Boseman showed up – a guy who has 19 IMDB credits, mostly all television guest star stints.  Chadwick could not be bothered to sign for the group and got booed.  We’re used to newly crowned celebrities starting off very nice and turning to the “dark side” rather quickly, but this guy seems sour from the get go… Just not interested in signing autographs.

Even with as little as we got signed, any night that we walk away with multiple Harrison Ford’s is a great night for us!   Until next time….

At Any Price Premiere: Denied by Clancy, Thanks Dennis.

Went to the At Any Premiere Premiere a few days ago. It was a small event for a movie staring Dennis Quaid, Zac Efron & Heather Graham. Zac wasn't suppose to show but we decided to swing by for the others since we'd be in the area and we could use some Clancy Brown.

Clancy was the first man in the hatch on lost, Brother Justin on Carnivale and he's the voice of Mr.Krabs on Spongebob. Needless to say, we are a fan of his work. Carnivale is a GREAT show that never got a fair shake. We walked up to the premiere and not many were there. Clancy arrived first and wouldn't be bothered with signing. He was over an hour early but didnt matter. He scoffed at the idea and rushed in.

Next up was Kim Dickens from Deadwood. We were able to get her on 2 11x14s from the show.

Minutes after Kim, Heather Graham arrived. She came right over and signed and we were able to get her on 2 11x14s as well.

 After Kim was Maika Monroe who will be staring in the new Emma Watson movie "The Bling Ring" and is Zac Efron's love interest in this movie. She came over and signed and we had two for her and got both of them done.

Last but not least was Dennis Quaid. Dennis came over and was friendly and signed. We got him on 3 11x14s and he stopped to take a picture with Edwin. I botched the photo op as I accidentally turned off my camera while going to take the pic but my friend behind me shot over my head and was able to help Ed get his photo with Dennis. (Good lookin' out! Coop) It's always nice to not invest a lot of time, get what you need done and get out. Successful evening.

Tom Cruise...again!

Went for Tom Cruise this week after the Oblivion Premiere to try and knock out a few more 11x14s.  The scene was chaotic as virtually every autograph collector in the LA area was in attendance as well as countless look-e-lous.  Cameras, stools and lawn chairs (courtesy of the Disney pin traders taking up residence in the parking lot) filled the area.  Tom came over and smiled and signed as much as he could.

Olga Kurylenko of Oblivion & Magic City

Went for Olga Kurylenko a few days ago while she was out promoting Oblivion.  When Olga was finished doing what she needed to do she came over and smiled and signed for the fans.  She was very sweet and signed as much as they would allow her until they told her to stop.  Quick & efficient just how I like it.
